3D Metamorphosis

For this project, we were required to pick two objects that related to one another, and transform one into the other in 5-7 steps.

I chose a fox transforming into a fur coat. The color choice represents the killing of the fox in order to create the fur coat. Although oftentimes coats are dyed black or other colors, the blood from the fox remains on it.

I also created an animation to go with this project:

I am actually pretty happy with this project. I believe that it represents me, and everybody knew what my message was. I would probably choose something more simple if I decided to do this project over again.

Terracycle Project

For this project, we were to create a container using only recycled materials. Since my computer died during winter break, I chose to create a laptop bag out of my old computer!

I found some orange canvas from a scrap fabric bin, and decided to use that for the interior of the bag. The fox painting was already on the computer, so it was perfect that the canvas I found was orange to match!

The bag is reversible, and the keyboard (which was my favorite part about this computer) is exposed, so when you're bored, you can type on your messenger bag!

Here is the inside. I lined the computer with colgate toothpaste tube for a shiny interior.

Finally, the strap is made with braided canvas secured to the interior of the canvas bag via a knot and some adhesive. I had a lot of fun with this project!

Serial Planes

For this project, we had to start with a flat shape, or "plane". We were to transform the shape using several planes. I chose to create an abstract fox shape from the initial shape of an "f". I used sculpey for the material, then painted it with acrylic paints and glazed it for a final glossy finish.
